ICA has studied the formulation of paints for wood for thirty years. The chemical-physical characteristics that are expected of a coating for parquet such as hardness, chemical and abrasion resistance are easily achievable with ICA’s range of UV coatings for parquet. By creating the correct balance between chemical and mechanical characteristics during the application cycle, ICA’s UV parquet range allows you to obtain the optimum final result.

The results of various testing carried out in our laboratories on pre-finished parquet surfaces treated with UV cycles compared to surfaces treated with bi-component solvent based polyurethanes can be seen the following table. The results show that the UV cycles are comparable, and sometimes superior, to the polyurethane cycles. The most important test is that of abrasion resistance. This test simulates the wear and tear of painted parquet caused by the tread of feet using a taber abrasion meter with CS-17 wheels, loaded with a 1kg weight for 1000 revolutions.

The results shown in the table refer to the loss of weight expressed in milligrams: the UV cycles resulted superior to the polyurethaned ones, particularly regarding the samples treated with the special anti-scratch top coat which, thanks to its special formulation gives excellent performance results.
