IN Solvent-Based Stains are concentrated tints that can be diluted with either solvents or water in varying percentages depending on the tone of colour desired. They are excellent for universal use, both indoors and outdoors. The IN range of stains have good light-fastness and can be applied using a variety of methods.

Stain Mix Kits
Small – KITIN16
Large – KITIN68
Concentrated, intermixable solvent based stains for universal use, they can be diluted either with solvent or water in various percentages. (NB. IN47 and IN914 can NOT be diluted with water. IN61 should first be mixed with another solvent before adding acetone)
As the IN series are stain concentrates, application by almost any method possible. The second component, the diluting agent, which is used determines how the stain can be applied. The IN stains can be sprayed, wiped, dripped or rolled onto wood to add a wide range of colours to almost any project.
With both solvent and water, mixing ratios range from 1:2 to 1:40. The colours in the Stain Mix chart are obtainable using the appropriate mixing ratios. Drying times for the IN stains ranges from 2-5 minutes when using acetone to 15-20 minutes using D1030*.
*Assuming temperature at 20C/67F and relative humidity of 65%
Dilute the stain concentrate with acetone, D1030, or water. We suggest the addition of VE202 at 20-30% when diluting with water, or IN920 (10-20%) if necessary with solvent, in order to maximize uniformity and avoid strike. A smaller nozzle than those used for normal coating application is recommended.
Spray and Wipe
Dilute with D1030 or another slow solvent, or if diluting with water, add 2% to 3% butyl glycole.
Dilute with IN920 at 20-30%. The IN stains can be over-coated with nitrocellulose, pre-cat, polyurethane, acid cured, synthetic, water based and acrylic coatings, or polyester after first applying isolante IS201.
Good for indoor and outdoor use.
ICA’s research in this field was presented to the European Commission and was the only one to receive an award (“LIFE”) in the coatings sector. The products developed by ICA were shown to work effectively towards a reduction in atmospheric emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
LIFE (l’Instrument Financier pour l’Environnement) program, is an initiative launched to give financial incentives to organizations engaged in ‘solid and sustainable development’. The central objectives of the LIFE program are the control and reduction of pollution in its various forms through ‘clean’ technologies.
